So... Got my computer back yesterday. The technician had run a whole slate of diagnostic tests on it over the weekend, all of which it apparently passed with flying colours, had restarted it something like 30 times with no evidence of any trouble, and nary a crash the entire time ( Read more... )

Deeply annoyed with bike repair shops today. Or two of them, at least.

Well, that was scary - I took Kiska for her evening walk, and another dog in the park attacked her. Really savagely - it looked like it was trying to tear her throat out. Luckily she wasn't hurt, except for a small graze on her ear - there was tiny smear of blood there, but nothing much.

DSL update: I talked to Bell's account department, and I still AM locked into the stupid contract - until May 2013. I explained that the DSL is not working well due to circumstances beyond my control (corroded phone lines) and asked if there was any way of getting out of it early under those circumstances. So, I've been having trouble with my DSL for the past week or two - it seems to go up and down randomly, and sometimes even when it is working it's really slow. Also, the phone line is a little crackly, which I figured might be related... I called Bell last week, and they were supposed to send a technician, who never showed up. Just found out that registration for the Ride to Conquer Cancer closes tomorrow. I didn't register yet, and right now, with rent due tomorrow and various and sundry bills to deal with, I can't afford the $50 registration fee.

Maybe it's just as well - I'm not entirely sure I could have been fully prepared to ride 200km by June, unless I trained ( Read more... )
